How to make a piston is one of those simple yet important question asked by most people when they play the game. If they know the answer then they are well on their way. A piston is used by all types of mob in order to push or pull something along. You will also notice that when you try to use a piston on a block that it pushes that block against the adjacent block instead of through it. If you want to know how to make a piston, you will have to get a bit more specific answers to the question.
To actually make a piston – you will first need to go to the Creative mode so that you can build blocks for it. To do this, type “block” followed by “player”. In this case we are using the word “player” since it is possible to select a block by clicking on it while in Creative mode. Once you have located your block, place it next to the empty space on your piston. Next, type “place” followed by the block you just placed. Once you are done typing “block” and “place” a red dot should appear on your screen.
Now that you have placed your block – labeled it, and placed it, you can start to learn how to make a piston. First, take your Nintendo switch and put it in between the piston and the block you are working on. Next, apply pressure to both the piston and the block so that you can see the block move underneath the piston. When it moves under the piston, it will make a “clicking sound”. Once you have done this, remove the Nintendo switch and repeat the process with the piston.
If you are working on a wooden floor – you should notice that there are certain blocks that will slide over pistons. These blocks are known as “slime blocks”. To remove these blocks, you should first position the piston underneath one of these slimes and then tap the piston repeatedly. This will cause the block to fall off. The key here is to be patient – it may take several tries before you get this right.
As you progress through the world – you will notice that some piston blocks move faster than others. The fastest ones move much slower than the slower ones. You can pick up one of these blocks and place it on top of a piston that is moving slowly, causing the piston to go faster. If you do this while standing on a slime block, however, you will knock yourself out.
If you are using piston traps – you should notice that it doesn’t stay still when you place something underneath it. The blocks under the trap will move, causing the piston to go past them. If you want to know how to make a piston go faster, you should try doing this.
When you have a piston stuck on top of a block, simply place another block below the piston. This will cause the piston to go faster.
